I sent Mary a postcard of a coiled up rattlesnake and wrote her the following:

Did you know Franco and his family tried to put a hex on me? I have a message for Franco and his family: "Don't Tread on Me." That phrase and a coiled up rattlesnake were on the first ensign for the U. S. Navy. I fly this ensign on my sailboat.
